Position Summary: The Hazards Scientist contributes to Mercury’s evolving understanding of extreme weather and climate-related catastrophe risk. This role applies scientific research to support pricing, underwriting, and reinsurance strategy for perils such as wildfires, urban conflagrations, fire-following earthquakes, severe convective storms, and hurricanes. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Hazards Scientist defines and manages individual priorities with direction and then independently aligns tasks and priorities to translate cutting-edge science into insurance-relevant tools, models, and insights.
