Overview

As a Senior Engineer, Planning Analytics, you will architect, optimize, and deploy complex end‑to‑end solutions using IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), proactively resolving performance bottlenecks and ensuring system stability. You will lead requirements discovery, develop integrations with ERP and data warehouses, optimize PAW dashboards, and uphold rigorous standards for data quality, security, and documentation through code and documentation reviews. You will optimize the IBM Planning Analytics Cloud environment and drive user enablement – creating comprehensive training materials while providing technical guidance and mentorship across the team.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$101,167 to $204,439 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$91,970 to $185,853 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$82,773 to $167,268 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

 

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Architecture & Design: Architect, develop, optimize and deploy complex end-to-end IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) solutions – from proof-of-concepts to scalable production – ensuring system stability; conduct technical design sessions; stay current on Planning Analytics advances.
  • Technical Development & Modeling: Engineer and maintain robust models (cubes, dimensions, rules, TI, python): proactively identify and resolve technical challenges and performance bottlenecks; deliver solutions on time.

 

  • Automation & Innovation: Design and deliver TM1Py/TI automations that materially reduce manual effort and improve data integration and reporting efficiency.

 

  • Reporting & Visualization: Design and optimize PAW dashboards and reports; ensure usability and decision-readiness for business stakeholders.

 

  • Business Collaboration: Lead requirements discovery with cross-functional teams; translate complex needs into scalable technical solutions and recommend system enhancements.

 

  • System Integration: Build and manage successful integrations between IBM Planning Analytics and enterprise systems/data sources ensuring seamless data flow and process alignment.

 

  • Data Quality, Security & Governance: Uphold high standards for data quality, integrity and security; create and maintain technical documentation; lead code and documentation reviews; meet compliance and regulatory requirements.

 

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Optimize the IBM Planning Analytics Cloud environment; support licensing and resolve performance issues.

 

  • User Enablement: Create comprehensive training materials and documentation; provide ongoing user support, including bug and enhancements requests and training needs.

 

  • Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and mentorship; promote best practices and knowledge sharing across the team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education: 

Minimum: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance/Accounting, or related field.

 

Experience:

Minimum:

  • 8+ years of experience in IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) development, including 2+ years supporting financial systems.

•   3+ years monitoring and maintaining IBM Planning Analytics Cloud infrastructure.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Minimum:

  • Advanced proficiency in PAW, SQL (including stored procedures), REST API, MDX, Feeders, Python/TM1Py, Turbo Integrator, and multi-dimensional cube design; strong experience with analytics platforms (e.g. Planning Analytics, PowerBI).
  • Advanced testing techniques skills.
  • 3+ years monitoring and maintaining IBM Planning Analytics Cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience with the full IBM Planning Analytics Cloud feature-set (rules/feeders and PAW), data modeling, ETL, and large-scale data systems.
  • Strong communication and project execution skills; proven ability to partner across business and technology teams and communicate with both technical and business teams.
  • Demonstrated ownership, drive, and critical thinking; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; willingness to dive into the details.
  • Ability to support, troubleshoot and resolve off-hours issues.
  • Demonstrated mentoring capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel integration with IBM Planning Analytics.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience building ML-enabled budget/forecasting solutions in IBM Planning Analytics is a strong plus.
