Position Summary
The Personal Lines Product Intern on National Team will have a chance to translate data into impactful business insights. As we are advancing Mercury’s competitive intelligence analytics, the intern will delve into internal and external data to better understand our products’ competitive position in the market, identify opportunities, and make recommendations on our process, tools and data capabilities. The intern will have the opportunity to partner across multiple functions and deliver insights and a working MVP, culminating in a capstone presentation to leadership at program end.
An in-person interview may be required during the hiring process
Essential Job Functions
• Based on assigned projects:
• Create concise deliverables (dashboards, decks, briefs) that translate analysis into recommendations; maintain clear documentation. Contribute to MVP development and deliver a capstone presentation to senior leadership.
• Maintain compliance alignment and company standards in all communications and artifacts.
• Paid Internship: $30 per hour
Education
Minimum: Currently pursuing a BS/BA or MS in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Finance).
Preferred: Coursework in pricing analytics, segmentation, or operations research.
Experience
• Be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Minimum: Currently pursuing a BS/BA or MS in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Finance).
• Preferred: Coursework in pricing analytics, segmentation, or operations research.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA required, 3.5 or higher GPA preferred.
• Enrolled student attending a university program with an expected graduation date on or after August 2025
• Planning to seek full-time employment between December 2026 and September 2027
Preferred Experience
• Minimum: Academic or project experience with data analysis and business insight generation.
• Preferred: Exposure to P&C insurance fundamentals, product lifecycle, and cross-state considerations.
Knowledge and Skills
• Minimum: Excel proficiency; familiarity with SQL and one programming language (Python or R); strong communication and teamwork; ability to manipulate, analyze, and model data to address and solve business problems; Willingness to independently learn and make an impact within a team environment
• Preferred: Power BI/Tableau, and presentation building; Experience with machine learning.
