Overview

Position Summary

This role is responsible for leading the product technology roadmap for the Property & Casualty insurance portfolio, serving as a bridge between business needs and technical execution within the technology organization. The position involves translating product, pricing, compliance, and strategic enhancement requirements into actionable technical tasks, ensuring seamless and timely delivery across platforms. Key responsibilities include defining and delivering innovative insurance services, managing the product roadmap, mentoring junior product managers, and fostering relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams. The role also requires close collaboration with Insurance Product, R&D, Underwriting, Compliance, Engineering, Program Management, and external vendors to track and implement upcoming changes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives to capitalize on market opportunities.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

 

$105,245 to $199,452  (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$95,677 to $181,320 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$86,110 to $163,188  (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

 

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities

Essential job functions:

  • Translate insurance product strategy into a scalable product technology road map, ensuring alignment with regulatory deadlines, organizational priorities, and system dependencies.
  • Shape, own, and communicate the product technology roadmap, incorporating input from senior leadership and stakeholders, and keeping all parties informed about dependencies, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of technical product managers responsible for the technical implementation of strategic initiatives including rate, rule, eligibility, form, and pricing changes defined by Insurance Product and R&D
  • Drive strong agile scrum practices, ensuring backlog health, Sprint readiness, clear roles, and predictable delivery across teams while regularly updating stakeholders and customers on progress.
  • Ensure high quality requirements, including well-structured epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and traceability back to product, R&D, or compliance source documents.
  • Partner with engineering and program management to plan releases, de-risk delivery, identify cross domain impacts, and validate technical feasibility.
  • Manage the product backlog with a focus on regulatory accuracy, operational readiness, customer experience, platform stability, performance, and competing features.
  • Represent the Technology perspective in cross functional discussions and decision-making forums.
  • Define, measure, and report key delivery and product metrics including Sprint throughput, defect trends, cycle time, and technical risks.
  • Lead ongoing transformation and continuous improvement, including maturing Agile/Scrum practices, improving requirements workflows, increasing delivery predictability, and enhancing documentation and tooling across product delivery teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on how insurance product changes flow through system and impact quoting, underwriting, binding, policy issuance, and downstream processes.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience in product management.

Preferred:

  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years product management and/or product design 
  • 5+ years managing complex initiatives from initiation to completion using product management processes and best practices.
  • Experience in defining and implementing product metrics to track performance and success.
  • Experience handling all stages of product delivery.
  • Experience contributing to tech discussions and product strategy.
  • Experience managing technical products or online services.
  • Experience representing various customers and stakeholders during planning.

  • Ability to build ground-up solutions where none exist including all steps of ideation, problem discovery, customer usage, design, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, assess information, and make sound decisions based on data and evidence.
  • Ability to work as a partner and peer to your counterparts in engineering, program management and quality assurance.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and drive strategic direction.
  • Strong skills in managing relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business goals and product development.
