Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled IT Communication Specialist Senior to join our IT-MTS Operational Effectiveness team. This role is crucial in developing, managing, and delivering clear and engaging communication strategies that align with our organization's IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring complex IT concepts are translated into accessible and impactful messages.  You will lead communication strategies that inform and engage team members with a people-first approach. You will partner with leaders and teams in the MTS organization to communicate updates and initiatives in the most effective and engaging manner. A successful candidate partners and provides consultation to a variety of leaders and team members, adapts quickly to change, and has a growth mindset.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Internal and External Communication
    • Leads strategic communication campaigns that drive Mercury’s MTS/IT strategy, support Company objectives, cultivate our culture, and foster team member engagement
    • Develop and execute communication plans for IT projects, updates, and initiatives. 
    • Draft clear and concise messages, newsletters, one-pagers, emails, and reports tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
    • Manage and evolve the intranet platform by overseeing operations and integrating new features like AI and cross-platform tools. 
    • Serve as a liaison between IT teams and other business units to ensure consistent messaging. 
  • Content Creation and Management
    • Create user-friendly content for intranet portals, FAQs, user guides, and release notes. 
    • Manage communication channels such as newsletters, SharePoint sites, and collaboration tools. 
    • Maintain and update internal communication channels, including org sites, team resources, and AI education materials. 
    • Ensure high quality of communications through research, proofreading, and editing.
    • Execute content strategy across digital platforms, ensuring resources remain fresh and accessible.
    • Organize and maintain an inventory of digital and physical assets/materials/collateral to develop a comprehensive and consistent archive. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Consults and partners with various business and project leaders to ensure effective and engaging communications strategies.
    • Coordinate with MTS leadership to identify communication needs and priorities.
    • Conduct regular feedback sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of IT communications.
    • Track engagement metrics, stakeholder feedback, and provide reports to leadership to refine communication and education strategies.
  • Training Support
    • Partner with product and project managers to develop communication strategies for new technologies or system rollouts.
    • Assist in developing training materials and announcements for system upgrades or migrations.
  • Crisis and Incident Communication
    • Draft timely communication during IT incidents, outages, or cybersecurity events.
    • Ensure transparency and clarity in urgent updates.
    • Develop positive relationships with IT leadership and team to assist in maximizing communication and minimizing crises

 

 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Communications, Information Technology, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field.

Experience:

Minimum:

  • 8-10 years in a communications role, with at least 5 years of experience in IT-related communications or a technology-driven organization.

Preferred:

  • 1 or more years of experience in measuring engagement

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with IT terminology, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to translate technical language into plain language.
    • Must be technology savvy and familiar with general software used for developing professional communication pieces in print and electronic format, including in MS Office products including SharePoint, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and other communication platforms, such as Workshop, Synthesia, Easy Generator, Hootsuite. 
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Passion for exploring emerging AI technologies and a drive to continuously learn and upskill
    • Exemplify superior time management skills, work well under quick deadlines, are creative thinkers  
    • Stay informed of emerging social media trends, tools, and best practices, proactively testing new platforms, formats, and content strategies to engage our diverse audience.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate with internal and external customers who have diverse personalities.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
    • Must be a self-starter and able to work autonomously as well as a team player.
    • Must have patience and ability to adjust to last-minute requests.
    • Ability to build relationships with a high level of interpersonal skills.
    • Has a growth mindset and is continuously looking for ways to improve communications.
    • Demonstrates professional poise, tact and diplomacy at all times. 
    • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

Pay Range

USD $92,153.73 - USD $174,681.00 /Yr.
