Overview

The Manager, Engagement & Experience is a dynamic and innovative leader dedicated to advancing the engagement and experience of independent agents representing Mercury Insurance. This individual is responsible for conceiving, executing, and continuously refining programs and initiatives that foster deep agent engagement, elevate their business partnership with Mercury, and drive desirable business results. The ideal candidate brings strategic vision and creativity together with data-driven decision making, collaborating across internal teams to ensure independent agents are empowered, motivated, and strongly aligned with Mercury’s brand and business goals.

 

This leader will oversee a wide range of engagement initiatives for independent agents, such as incentive and recognition programs, and technology-driven solutions, including AI-enabled engagement platforms. The primary objective is to ensure that every interaction and touchpoint in the agent journey not only advances business objectives, but also builds lasting, mutually beneficial relationships between Mercury and its independent agency partners. As a champion of process excellence and scalable growth, the Manager inspires a commitment to service and partnership, both within their team and cross-functionally, to deliver a superior agent experience.

Geo-Salary Information

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$98,699 to $182,896 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$89,727 to $166,269 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$80,754 to $149,642  (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

 

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide visionary leadership to a multidisciplinary team that supports agent-facing programs, cultivating a culture of inclusion, accountability, and high achievement.
  • Establish clear team goals and expectations aligned with agent engagement success and offer actionable feedback and ongoing development.
  • Mentor and inspire team members, encouraging innovation and continuous learning to optimize agent support and program effectiveness.

 

Engagement Strategy & Program Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive engagement strategies and programs designed specifically for independent agents, including signature events, motivation/incentive initiatives, and digital/AI-powered experiences, to drive loyalty, productivity, and retention.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate a variety of live and virtual events, recognition campaigns, communications, and educational opportunities that connect, energize, and support Mercury’s independent agents.
  • Collect agent feedback and insights, collaborating closely with field leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure that agent-centric programs address real needs and strategic opportunities.

 

Data Analysis, A/B Testing & Program Optimization

  • Design and implement A/B testing methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of agent engagement initiatives, communications, and program changes.
  • Analyze test results and leverage data-driven insights to continuously optimize strategies, ensuring the most impactful approaches are scaled across the agent experience.
  • Use analytics, surveys, and key performance indicators to measure, refine, and report on the success of engagement programs.

 

Brand Advocacy & Partnership Cultivation

  • Serve as a champion for Mercury’s brand, mission, and values in all agent-oriented initiatives, ensuring a cohesive and impactful experience at every touchpoint.
  • Amplify the voice of independent agents in program development and implementation, reinforcing Mercury’s commitment to partnership and collaboration.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to foster inclusion and equity within the agent community, ensuring varied perspectives guide engagement strategies.
  • Facilitate regular Producer Council meetings to gather agent feedback and drive program improvements based on council recommendations.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales, marketing, technology, training, operations, and communications teams to seamlessly integrate agent engagement efforts and ensure consistent stakeholder alignment.
  • Serve as an ambassador and primary point of contact for key agent engagement initiatives, promoting operational excellence and unified experience for agency partners.

 

Compliance & Best Practices, & Innovation

  • Ensure all engagement programs, communications, and events adhere to company policies and industry best practices.
  • Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in agent experience management, recommending and implementing innovative improvements.
  • Promote the adoption of digital tools and approaches to drive efficiency, scalability, and a best-in-class agent experience.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee program budgets, vendor contracts, and relationships supporting agent engagement.
  • Prepare and deliver executive reports and presentations summarizing engagement results, progress, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to special projects or additional duties as required to further Mercury’s mission and agency partnership goals.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Communications, or related field.

Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related discipline. 

 

Experience

Minimum:

  • 5+ years’ experience in employee or agent engagement, program management, HR, marketing, or a related field.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or team leadership capacity.
  • Experience developing and executing large-scale events, engagement, or recognition programs.
  • Experience in the P&C insurance industry and working cross-functionally with teams such as marketing, field/sales, compliance, or IT.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with digital engagement tools and data/analytics platforms.
  • Proven record of analyzing and reporting on digital content effectiveness.

  • Up to 20% travel for events 

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with AI-driven engagement platforms and digital experience innovations.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor partnerships for events or programs
