Position Summary:
The primary job function is to conduct extensive legal research, analyze information, and compose legal opinions and resolutions in support of Company policies and contractual obligations.
Candidates must reside in one of the following states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Virginia
Education:
Minimum: Requires a law degree and admission to the bar in one of the states where the Company writes insurance policies. California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Virginia.
Preferred: Additional legal (LLM) or other degrees, multiple state bar admissions; bar association memberships.
Experience:
Minimum: 1-2 years experience in legal research, writing, and analysis.
Preferred: 3-5 years experience including insurance coverage experience. Experience in cross over and/or related areas (workers compensation, liens, Medicare, Medi-Cal, health plans (ERISA, FEHBA), litigation, declaratory relief) a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
Minimum: Basic legal research, analytical and writing skills. A background in handling insurance coverage and related issues for insurance companies and their insureds, or other transferable legal skills. Good communication skills.
Preferred: Mid Level legal research, analytical and writing skills. Some background in handling insurance coverage and related issues for insurance companies and their insureds. Persuasive legal writing and ability to communicate across all mediums and platforms and with professionalism and competency. Legal analysis regarding coverage and related issues throughout the United States where losses occur, with some understanding of how some coverage issues may differ among the various states where the Company does business and in other states where accidents and losses may occur, and some ability to apply these skills to all lines of coverage, whether personal or business automobile, homeowner, general liability, landlord, umbrella, or any other. Some ability to advise the Company on coverage or related issues outside of the traditional coverage opinion.
