The Property Claims Authority Consultant is responsible for performing guidance and oversight to team members of first party property claims and support Property Claims leaders to ensure consistency and objectivity in our claim handling. Responsible for conducting quality reviews for appropriate coverage and subrogation investigation, damage determination, estimation, and compliance with claim processes. This role will also review reserves, coverage, and payments on claim file authorization requests; and to identify, track, assist with data analysis, and provide feedback on areas of opportunity found during the authorization process.
State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:
$73,126.95 to $127,721.72 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)
$66,479.04 to $116,110.66 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)
$59,831.14 to $104,499.59 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)
Essential Job Functions:
• Ensures evaluation accuracy: Authorizes payment, reserve, and coverage requests on claim files in a timely manner. The Authority Consultant is expected to review for proper Claims operating procedures and apply critical evaluation of estimating and policy provisions utilized by the Claim Handler or vendor in arriving at the requested amount.
• Provide accurate and specific reasoning for all rejections in a timely manner.
• Identify areas and trends of deficiency and provide coaching opportunities during the authorization process for claim handlers and vendors.
• Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with leadership to review trends and claim handler/vendor execution, to create actionable feedback to improve overall performance.
• Collect, maintain, and present data for tracking volume, root causation, and other relevant metrics.
• Continuously develop and improve personal Claims-related technical knowledge and skills including, but not limited to: continuous education, industry related training, data collection, processing and reporting, and communications.
• May perform open and closed claim audits as needed: Could be targeted, partial and full audits.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 3 – 4 years’ experience as a Property Field Claims handler for Dwelling, Contents and ALE.
• Minimum of three (3) years Xactimate or commensurate estimating and program usage experience with demonstrated Sketch/dimensioning abilities is preferred.
• Minimum 3-4 years’ experience with related Claims systems such as Guidewire, ISO ClaimSearch, etc.
• Hold, or be able to obtain, state Property Adjuster P&C Licenses including, but not limited to, the following states: GA, OK, and TX.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Requires high level knowledge on policy provisions and coverage interpretations, property damage assessment and estimate creation, general re-construction, and general first Party Property claim handling procedures.
• Able to evaluate the appropriateness of actions taken by Claims team members to settle claims.
• Able to provide coaching to Claims team members in an effective manner to improve their respective performance.
• Requires ability to maintain objectivity and consistency in evaluating claims files.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with leadership and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to write accurate estimates.
• Comfortable using technology and organizational skills to manage multiple assignments and tasks effectively.
