State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$89,906 to $170,421 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$81,733 to $154,928 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$73,560 to $139,435 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

 

Position Summary:

At Mercury, members of our Product Management Team are responsible for driving profitable growth in their assigned states and line of business (Personal Lines Auto, Property or Commercial insurance).  As an Asst Manager R&D, you are playing a vital role in making our insurance product successful. 

 

The primary job function is to act as subject expert in statistical modeling methodology and/or product research. Identifies issues and recommends solutions and enhancements to current insurance products.  Supports strategy to research, design, and develop new insurance products to achieve profitable growth.  

 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with team to implement products to meet growth and profitability targets; Supports strategy to research, design and develop new insurance products to achieve profitable growth; Reviews and understands results of analyses and implements changes in pricing and product models as directed
  • Acts as a subject expert in statistical modeling methodology and/or product research; Evaluates, audits and conducts data research and statistical analysis to solve issues; Provides statistical and analytical support to others; Identifies issues and recommends solutions and enhancements to current insurance products; Presents research plans and results to senior managers
  • Coordinates the design, rating and development of new and enhanced products for targeted lines of business; Monitors integration with IT, Underwriting, Marketing, and other divisions to implement product enhancements
  • Ensures work flow is properly distributed according to priority of product development projects
  • Provides product training throughout the organization as necessary
  • Other functions may be assigned

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree  required in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field,
  • Master’s degree preferred in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field

Experience:

  • 5+ years of product development experience 
  • Minimum 1 year of leadership experience through project management desired
  • Or equivalent combination of education/experience

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 or more years of experience with SAS, python, or R
  • 1 or more years of experience with pricing models
  • Experience with commercial insurance products 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of P&C industry products and services
  • Great analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to demonstrate Company Leadership and Core Values
  • Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment while demonstrating collaborative efforts with various teams
  • Advanced statistical modeling ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to correspond with internal and external customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Proficient in SAS and/or other statistical software
