The Sr. Inside Sales Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth and agency engagement within an assigned territory. Acting as the primary liaison for agency partners, this role is responsible for effective communication between Mercury and its agents, developing and executing sales strategies, conducting virtual sales calls, and leveraging in-depth knowledge of personal insurance products to deliver tailored solutions. Additionally, this role is also responsible for expanding Mercury’s agency portfolio by recruiting and onboarding high-potential agents and providing ongoing training and support to ensure the agency’s successful immersion and growth.
Assigned Territory Management
• Act as the main liaison for agencies, ensuring clear communication and support from the Mercury team.
• Develop and implement strategies to penetrate the assigned territory, maximizing sales opportunities and market share.
• Develop comprehensive sales call plans and conduct effective virtual sales calls within the assigned territory to generate new business that aligns with financial targets and sales objectives
• Cultivate in-depth knowledge of Mercury's personal insurance products, platforms, and services to deliver tailored solutions for our agents.
• Leverage financial incentives such as overrides, rewards campaigns, contingency bonuses, and trip contests to strategically influence agency performance and goal achievement.
• Analyze sales data and reports from the territory to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Gather competitive intelligence and monitor industry trends to provide management with insights and recommendations regarding market conditions, service levels, and the effectiveness of Mercury’s personal insurance programs.
• Work closely with internal business partners to ensure a positive customer experience and foster strong relationships.
New Agency Appointment & Onboarding
• Identify high potential agents through networking, referrals, and industry research to recruit and appoint.
• Evaluate and analyze agency data to determine alignment with Mercury’s targeted clientele and business objectives.
• Conduct onboarding sessions and ongoing training for newly appointed agents, ensuring they understand product offerings, sales techniques, and compliance requirements.
• Provide ongoing support to agents, assisting with sales strategies, product knowledge, and customer relationship management.
• Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics for new agents, providing feedback and strategies for improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of agent appointments, training sessions, and sales performance. Provide regular updates to management on progress and challenges.
New Agency Appointments Through Book of Business and Portfolio Transfers
• Research and identify potential agency appointments through the transfer of entire books of business.
• Analyze the profitability of existing books to determine the feasibility and potential return on investment for agency appointments.
• Negotiate compensation structures with potential partners to secure advantageous terms that align with company goals.
• Facilitate the onboarding process for new agents, ensuring they are well-versed in Mercury’s products and equipped to generate growth.
• Utilize various channels to generate leads, including networking, industry events, and market research.
• Contribute to the development of sales strategies and initiatives aimed at expanding the agency's portfolio.
• Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and negotiations in the CRM system, providing regular updates for leadership.
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field.
Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., CPCU, CIC) preferred.
Experience
Minimum: Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
