State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$102,678 to $194,588 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$93,344 to $176,898 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$84,009 to $159,208 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

 

Position Summary:
The Principal Software Developer Analyst (Principal SDA) is responsible for researching new technologies, defining best practices, defining standards, developing code libraries, developing Proof of Concepts, architecting medium complexity application systems and system integrations. Preparing Detailed Specifications or Design from which programs will be written. Coding/configuring, unit testing, reviewing code, debugging, documenting, and maintaining very complex software applications, integrations and frameworks, in an environment that continuously introduces leading-edge technologies. The Principal SDA may be required to lead large sized development teams and/or assist in managing a medium size technical staff.


The Principal Software Developer Analyst operates under general supervision, adhering to Mercury standards, processes and methodologies. This position requires sufficient educational background and/or experience and expertise to lead, research, architect technical solutions, provide technical guidance and expertise, analyze, design, prepare detailed specification, and develop or modify very complex application programs from the detailed specifications using the technology stack used at Mercury. The Principal SDA will primarily work as part of a collaborative team in a matrixed organization structure at Mercury facilities, utilizing company-issued equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in Estimating, Planning and Tracking Development Tasks, Establishing Best Practices and Standards.
  • Assist in Mentoring/Coaching Resources, Writing Reviews, Staff Development, Hiring Staff.
  • Research, Assist in determining System Architecture, Design and Prepare Detailed Functional Specifications.
  • Lead Development Resources to Code/Configure and unit test functionality as per detailed functional specifications as per established Standards. Develop Reusable Code Libraries, Develop Proof of Concepts. Collaborate with Business, Vendors and -Other Departments to coordinate timelines, design dependencies and resolve conflicts.
  • Research new technologies, define best practices, define standards, develop code libraries and Frameworks, develop Proof of Concepts.
  • Review Code for Quality and Adherence to Standards.
  • Other functions that may be assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • 4-year College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields with specific emphasis on database design, object oriented programming concepts, software design and development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years Experience related to Software Development.
  • Must have at least 4 year experience in one or more technologies and methodologies used at Mercury.
  • Must have at least 4 year experience in designing software and preparing detailed Functional Specifications.
  • Must have at least 2 year experience in Estimating, Planning and Tracking Development Tasks.
  • Must have at least 2 year experience in Researching new technologies, defining best practices, defining standards, developing code libraries and Frameworks, developing Proof of Concepts.

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in Java programming language.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot for building microservices and REST APIs.
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of RESTful principles, status codes, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB (NoSQL database) for storing and retrieving data.
  • Proficiency in working with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures.
  • Understanding of message queues, topics, and consumer/producer patterns.
  • knowledge of modern UI frameworks such as React and Angular.
  • Ability to build responsive and user-friendly web interfaces.
  • Experience with logging frameworks like Log4j, SLF4J, or Logback.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.
  • Proficiency in writing unit tests using JUnit or other testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Jenkins for continuous integration and automated builds.
  • Familiarity with Docker for containerization. o Knowledge of Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift for container orchestration.
  • Ability to collaborate with front-end developers and integrate UI components.
  • Proficiency in using Git for version control and Understanding of branching strategies and pull requests.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to debug and optimize code for performance.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration within cross-functional teams.
