Overview

Position Summary:

Under general direction, the Technical Talent Acquisition Principal will focus on full life cycle recruitment for technology, data-analytic, and highly specialized roles to attract and hire effective talent. Utilizing in-depth knowledge and understanding of technical roles, the Technical Talent Acquisition Principal will identify and engage potential candidates, assess their qualifications and skills, and evaluate the potential fit between candidates and the organization.

The Technical Talent Acquisition Principal will develop and maintain relationships with passive candidates and industry contacts to build a pipeline of candidates. They will also be responsible for creating and deploying effective recruiting strategies to engage with candidates and fill open positions.

This role requires a high degree of effective consultancy and collaboration with internal key stakeholders seeking professional and oftentimes, highly academically credentialed roles.

 

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$79,638 to $143,123 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$72,398 to $130,112 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$65,159 to $117,101 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

 

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establishes effective partnerships with business leaders and Human Capital Business Partners to understand and prioritize talent needs, identify strategic talent attraction/development initiatives, and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the talent selection process.  
  • Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to identify and engage passive and active candidates. Analyzes market and industry data to remain familiar with the labor market
  • Serves as a strong representative of Mercury’s culture and direction and ensures a positive applicant and onboarding experience.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry contacts, such as alumni networks and professional organizations, to build a pipeline of technical talent. Effectively utilizes employment agencies, recruiters, media, internet sites, and social media to attract technical applicants. Attends professional networking events to represent Mercury and generate awareness of employment opportunities.
  • Source and recruit technical talent through a variety of methods, including but not limited to job postings, employee referrals, networking, and recruitment campaigns.
  • Screen and evaluate candidates based on their technical qualifications and skills. Utilize a variety of methods, such as interviews, coding challenges, and assessments to evaluate potential candidates. 
  • Possesses depth of knowledge on both technology and data analytics emerging talent attributes and communicates effectively with respect to depth of understanding.
  • Assists business leaders with negotiating offers and onboarding successful candidates
  • Tracks and effectively communicates recruitment metrics with regular updates to key stakeholders.
  • Participates in employee career-path initiatives to enhance internal growth and talent development.
  • Responds to questions and concerns from employees, business leaders, and Human Capital Business Partners regarding career advancement and employment.
  • Other functions that may be assigned

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years of directly related experience recruiting for specialized and/or technical positions
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and related recruiting software.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Requires a proven track record in successfully managing a high volume of full life cycle recruiting for highly technical positions.
  • Recruitment experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry is preferred.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems is preferred.
  • Requires expert knowledge and proficiency in sourcing and building talent pools.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of Human Resources disciplines, especially related to talent acquisition and talent development, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with employees, business leaders, and professional networks.
  • Requires leadership, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Must have basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and social media to source and network with qualified candidates, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills are preferred.
  • Requires effective organizational skills.
  • Requires demonstrated problem-solving skills. 
  • Requires demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to meet changing deadlines and competing priorities and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires the ability to operate with minimal direct supervision.
  • Requires the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Must be able to work well in stressful situations while performing multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to sensitively handle confidential information.
  • Must be able to remain adaptable and flexible to business needs.
  • May require some travel as needed.
