State specific pay scales for this role are as follows: 

$188,703 to $367,137 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA) 

$171,548 to $333,761 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME) 

$154,393 to $300,385 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV) 

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location. 

 

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of State Product Management-Commercial Lines is responsible for the P&L for all Mercury commercial lines products.  Identifies challenges and opportunities for the business area by evaluating internal/external results/trends, competitor actions, regulatory relationships, legislative issues, distribution strategy and operational processes throughout the company.  

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for formulating strategy to increase premium and improve profitability. Drives actions through Commercial Domain, across functional teams and positions the organization to achieve results.

• Thought leader for the company with an ability to influence corporate decisions that often extend beyond immediate or direct span of control.

• Motivate staff and ensure top talent is recruited, retained and developed.  Responsible for recruitment, retention, performance management, employee motivation, staff development and talent management.  Develops next layer of key managers for the Company.

• Working with Chief Product Officer and other leaders, formulates a coherent strategy for profitable growth that include strategic improvements.

• Partners with Underwriting, Sales Development, Customer Experience, Enterprise Data Science, Marketing, Claims, Finance, IT, HC and other internal departments to implement changes.

• Recognizes changes in the insurance landscape and prepares the company to meet evolving markets.  This may be demonstrated by working with other groups to ensure the appropriate IT infrastructure to meeting changing demands; evaluating and executing on new product opportunities or establishing new distribution methods or channels for our products

• Cordially and professionally interact with customers, vendors, superiors, subordinates and peers

• Regular attendance at work on a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours and 40

• Various marginal functions

 

Education:

• Worker characteristics are normally acquired through completion of a Masters Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience:

• Minimum of  10+  years of product management experience position within the insurance industry

• 5+ years in a leadership capacity preferred

• Proven ability to develop relationships and drive results across various functions

• Proven ability to successfully formulate a coherent strategy for profitable growth that includes strategic improvements
